Trump Invites Loved Ones of Attacked Military Members to White House

President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the family of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the presidential home.

He added that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Devastating Event

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.

Presidential Offer

The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the parents of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump told reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Community Reaction

Attendees gathered over the past few days at the high school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both they had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s national effort to assist public safety in the capital.

Honoring the Soldier

“She was the individual that teachers wished for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a positive energy that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the leader of her alma mater, informed the press. “She was kind, considerate and always ready to help others.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Judicial Measures and Government Revisions

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The incident caused the Trump administration to suspend asylum applications and cease providing visas to holders of travel documents.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a native of the city, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey said on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on Fox News Sunday that she also intended to meet with Wolfe’s family.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with honor, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had courage,” Morrisey addressed the audience at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
