Fans Call for Detainment of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of Ariana Grande are calling for that a individual who breached a barricade and seized the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be detained or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared footage shows the Australian man bypassing camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the actors made its way down a yellow carpet accompanied by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being detained", though official papers revealed that he was due to attend court on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
Record of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram feed includes clips of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney performance in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last year.
"There needs to be action applied against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," commented an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user wrote.
Followers Voice Worry Over Grande's Past Trauma
Several supporters criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the conclusion of her May 2017 show in Manchester, killing 22 people and wounding many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said another comment on Instagram.
Some fans also criticised event staff at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while others called for digital services to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In footage shared widely, Grande seemed startled when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has not commented on the incident, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Numerous of fans had assembled in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in a Singapore venue, including several who had waited for as long as eight hours before it started.
The movie, to be premiered on November 21, is the follow-up of a dual interpretation of the acclaimed theatrical production Wicked, which focuses on the surprising bond between two distinct witches.
The production itself is a derivative of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a rosé glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful film of the previous year in the UK, and earned a dozen Oscar nominations, winning two for outstanding attire and set decoration.
