Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor has been charged with carrying out assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
