Stateside entertainer Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic programs such as "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.

The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in LA on Monday after undergoing treatment for cancer since 2022, as reported by reports.

"He saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his relatives stated in a statement.

They added that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".

A Prolific Career on Screen

His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.

He also had a regular part on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.

He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a social organizer who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.

During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on several popular shows, like:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

His most famous role for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.

His film credits include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Outside of his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and served as an educator at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was involved with a six-person improv troupe named "Beer Shark Mice".

"Pat guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils during his career and it's nearly impossible to find someone who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.

Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote on social media.

Finn is survived by his partner Donna, his children, and his family.
