Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Police say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Police then located numerous other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the substance was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for details.
An important political figure stated the attack made him stunned and needed to be solved promptly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, referring to the death of nine people by a assailant focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
