Prosecutors have charged Tyler Robinson with first-degree murder in connection with the September 10th shooting of the activist on the UVU campus in Orem. The prosecution has announced plans to pursue a capital sentence.

During the hearing, Robinson arrived with shackles on his wrists and ankles while dressed in a button-down shirt and trousers. He smiled with family members seated in the courtroom gallery, where his mother was seen wiping tears.

This was his first physical hearing; previous appearances had been handled through remote connection from jail.
